After the founding of New China, he served successively as director of the North China Institute of Agricultural Sciences, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and vice president of the branch of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1957 - 1959) and consultant (1977 - 1980). Representative to the First and Second National People's Congresses, representative to the Eighth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology. He has been mainly engaged in organizational and leadership work in agricultural production and agricultural scientific research throughout his life. In the 1940s, scientific workers were organized to carry out agricultural scientific research work in the anti-Japanese democratic base areas, including the breeding and improvement of improved varieties of wheat, rice, corn, and millet, the breeding of improved varieties of livestock, forest protection and afforestation. The "Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Natural Science Association" was founded and the publication "Natural Science Circle" was founded. Organize scientific researchers to go to rural areas for investigation and research, establish experimental bases, and adopt the policy of combining indoor research with rural production to control locust disasters, wheat stripe rust, swine fever, rinderpest and other infectious diseases.
