Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On February 10, 1940, the Central Military Commission issued instructions to carry out a large-scale production campaign
On this day, 85 years ago, on February 10, 1940 (January 3, 1940 in the lunar calendar), the Central Military Commission issued instructions to launch a large-scale production movement. After 1940, the song and dance drama "Brothers and Brothers" staged in Yan 'an, due to the "mopping up" and "clearing up" of Japanese imperialism and the blockade and destruction of the Kuomintang reactionaries, serious difficulties emerged in the anti-Japanese base areas behind the Eighth Route Army's enemy lines. In order to solve the difficulties and overcome them, the Party Central Committee called on the party, government, and civilians to work together to launch a large-scale production campaign. In response to the call of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission issued instructions to the entire army on February 10, 1940, requiring all troops to actively carry out production movements based on different environments and conditions, so as to fight, produce, and learn at the same time. In accordance with the instructions of the Central Military Commission, all troops where conditions permit carry out production campaigns. This movement started in the army and quickly spread out in party, government and military organs, mass organizations and schools in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and developed into various anti-Japanese base areas and guerrilla zones. Under the leadership of Brigade Commander Wang Zhen, the 359th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army stationed in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region set out to Nanniwan, southeast of Yan 'an, in 1940 to implement the "garrison policy". From the brigade commander to the soldiers, they worked together to reclaim wasteland, grow grain and vegetables, raise pigs and sheep, spin and weave, set up workshops, organize transportation, and open up 260,000 acres of land in three years. It was a banner of the entire army in the production movement. After hard work, by 1942, we were self-sufficient in food and more than 90% in funds. Nanniwan large-scale production has been highly valued by the Party Central Committee and Comrade Mao Zedong. In 1942, Yan 'an's Liberation Daily published an editorial proposing to actively implement the Nanniwan policy. In December of the same year, when Comrade Mao Zedong delivered a report on "Economic Issues and Financial Issues" at the meeting of senior cadres in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, he commended the great achievements made by the military, government agencies and schools in carrying out the large-scale production movement, and proposed the general policy of "developing the economy and ensuring supply", thus further promoting production movements in various places, and large-scale production in the military was also carried out more extensively. The large-scale production movement enabled the military and civilians in the Jiefang District to overcome difficulties. By 1943, various troops and agencies were generally able to provide food and vegetables for two to three months or even half a year. This enhanced the material strength to win the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, reduced the burden on the masses, improved people's lives, strengthened the relationship between the party, the government, the military, and the military, carried forward the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and hard work, and accumulated experience in economic construction.
