On this day, 88 years ago, on November 1, 1937 (September 29, 1937, the National Changsha Provisional University opened. National Changsha Provisional University, abbreviated as Changsha Linda, is the predecessor of National Southwest Associated University. It is composed of National Tsinghua University, National Peking University and private Nankai University. It is a temporary university located in Changsha during the Anti-Japanese War. On November 1, 1937, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nankai University formed Changsha Provisional University, the predecessor of Southwest Associated University, at the foot of Yuelu Mountain. One month after the school opened, due to the Japanese army pressing forward along the Yangtze River, teachers and students moved to Yunnan in February 1938. In April of the same year, it was renamed National Southwest Associated University, and the school site is now Yunnan Normal University. National Southwest Associated University officially opened classes on May 4, 1938. A graduation ceremony was held on May 4, 1946, and it was announced to end on July 31. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the three universities were demobilized and returned to Pingping and Tianjin. The Normal College of National Southwest Associated University was renewed in Kunming, which is now Yunnan Normal University. During his stay in Yunnan, the branch school was established in the spring of 1938. Xuyong Branch was established in August 1940. When the Anti-Japanese War broke out in 1937, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nankai University first moved to Changsha, Hunan Province to form Changsha Provisional University, which opened on October 25 of the same year. In April 1938, it moved westward to Kunming and renamed it National Southwest Associated University. Classes will begin on May 4, and 26 departments will be established in 5 colleges, including Arts, Science, Law and Business, Engineering and Normal Schools, with two specialties and one elective class. Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nankai were originally famous universities. They had their own unique experiences and teaching styles. After forming the UN General Assembly, they gathered a group of famous experts, scholars, and professors, with abundant teachers and abundant talents. Under extremely difficult conditions, they adhered to a rigorous academic attitude and established a good academic style. They were the largest famous institution of higher learning in China at that time. Southwest Associated University has graduated about 2000 students in its eight years, all of whom have achieved success in their studies. Some have become world-renowned experts and scholars. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Southwest Associated University was disbanded in 1946, and the three schools moved back to Beijing and Tianjin respectively for re-establishment.
