On this day, 111 years ago, on March 7, 1914 (February 11, 1914, the lunar calendar), Sun Xi, one of the pioneers of agricultural chemistry in China, was born. Sun Xi Sun Xi is a famous agricultural chemist and one of the pioneers of agricultural chemistry in China. He has long been committed to teaching and scientific research on soil nutrients, plant nutrition and fertilization, and compiled the first agricultural chemistry textbook in China. In-depth research was carried out on the mechanism of organic fertilizers to improve soil fertility and the principles of crop organic nutrition, enriching the theory of soil and plant nutrition. Mr. Sun Xi is the founder of agricultural chemistry in my country. He has devoted his life to the teaching and scientific research of agricultural chemistry and plant nutrition in China, and has made indelible contributions to the establishment and development of agricultural chemistry disciplines in China and the cultivation of specialized agricultural chemistry talents. Sun Xi was born on March 7, 1914 in Anqing City, Anhui Province. He graduated from the School of Agriculture of Zhejiang University in 1935 and was hired as an associate professor at the School of Agriculture in 1946. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served successively as professor at the School of Agriculture of Zhejiang University, director of the Department of Soil Agrochemistry, leader of the national agricultural chemistry textbook compilation team, director of the Chinese Soil Society and director of the First and Second Agricultural Chemistry Professional Committees, chairman of the Zhejiang Province Soil Fertilizer Society, Editorial Board of Soil Journal, Journal of China Soil Society, member of the Editor-in-Chief Committee of the Chinese Agricultural Encyclopedia and Director of the Editor-in-Chief of the Agricultural Chemistry Volume. In 1984, he was approved by the State Council as a doctoral supervisor and was awarded the honorary award for education by the State Education Commission. In 1985, it was included in the World Agricultural Who's Who. He died in January 1994.
