On this day, 114 years ago, on April 26, 1911 (March 28, 1911 in the lunar calendar), Tsinghua University was founded. Tsinghua University, with a long history, is a famous and well-known key university in my country that attracts people's attention. The predecessor of Tsinghua University was called Tsinghua School. It was a preparatory school for studying in the United States established by the Qing government in 1911 with part of the Gengzi indemnity "refunded" by the United States. In the early Qing Dynasty, the area around the I-Hall and Yichun Garden of Tsinghua University was now called Xichun Garden. Emperor Daoguang gave this garden to his fifth son Yi FDB9. Emperor Xianfeng named this garden Qinghua Garden, also known as "Xiaowuye Garden". As early as the Shenzong Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty, the garden of Shenzong's grandfather Li Wei was called Tsinghua Garden. This is where the word "Tsinghua" came from. In 1900, the Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded China, and the Qing government signed the "Xinchou Treaty" with eleven countries, which humiliated the country and lost 450 million taels of silver. Among them, the United States received more than 32 million taels. In 1904, after negotiations, the U.S. government decided to "refund" part of the compensation to China on a monthly basis from 1909 to 1940, and designate it for cultural and educational undertakings. In 1929, the National Government established the Tourist Aesthetics Office in Beijing, and four batches of students were directly sent to the United States to study. On April 26, 1911, Tsinghua School was officially established, and all school-running methods were implemented in accordance with American schools. After the Revolution of 1911, Tsinghua School was renamed Tsinghua School. The University Department was established in 1925 and began to recruit four-year college students. In 1928, the Kuomintang government took over Tsinghua University and changed the name of the school to "National Tsinghua University." The following year, the old system was all ended, completing the transition from preparatory school to university in the United States. After all, Tsinghua University in old China was founded on China soil. After all, teachers and students grew up among the China people. The suffering of the nation and the people's anti-imperialist and patriotic struggle promoted their awakening. The teachers and students reflect the patriotic enthusiasm of the China people. Therefore, Tsinghua University is a school with a glorious revolutionary tradition. Before liberation, teachers and students of Tsinghua University fought heroically against imperialism, northern warlords and Kuomintang reactionaries. They actively participated in the "May 4th" Movement and the "March 18th" anti-imperialist patriotic demonstration. In 1935, as the national crisis became increasingly serious, Tsinghua people exclaimed: "North China is so big that there is no room for a peaceful desk!" As a result, the epoch-making "December 9th" Anti-Japanese and National Salvation Movement broke out. Tsinghua students became a major force in the student movement in China at that time. Professor Wen Yiduo's "stand up and stand up" and Professor Zhu Ziqing's spirit of "preferring to starve to death than receive American relief food" have always been sung by future generations. On the hillside of Tsinghua Garden, their statues and "Wen Pavilion" and "Ziqing Pavilion" have also been built. After the founding of New China, in order to adapt to the needs of socialist construction and in accordance with the instructions of the Party Central Committee, Tsinghua University carried out faculty adjustments in 1952 and built dozens of buildings, including Chengzhai, Lizhai, and Qiangzhai; in the 1960s, the central main building was built; since the 1970s, it has mainly built faculty and staff dormitories. After decades of construction, Tsinghua University has become a comprehensive engineering university, cultivating batches of talents for the motherland.
