Confederate general Jacob Earley died during the American Civil War

Ju Bo Erli
On March 2, 1894, Bob Earley, a Confederate general during the American Civil War, died.
Earley was born on November 3, 1816, in Franklin County, Virginia. He fought the Indians in Florida in 1838 and participated in the American-Mexican War from 1846 to 1848. As Earley fought hard to keep his troops intact during the Battle of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, General Lee sent him to the Sherondoah Valley to fight against the southward North Army. After success, he was ordered to launch a raid on Washington, D.C., but lost at the Battle of Stevensburg and was later defeated by Philip Sheridan in the Valley Campaigns of 1864.
Earley lived in Canada for several years after the war and returned to Virginia in 1869. He died on March 2, 1894.
