In late March 1947, Mao Zedong led the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on his way to northern Shaanxi. Ren Bishi, secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and commander of the Central Column, reported to him the heroic death of a young girl, Liu Hulan.
