125 years ago today, January 30, 1900 (December 30, 1899, the lunar calendar) was the birthday of China historian Lu Zhenyu. Lu Zhenyu (January 30, 1900-July 17, 1980) was a historian. People from Shaoyang, Hunan. He graduated from Hunan University in 1926 and later participated in the Northern Expedition. Joined the Communist Party of China in 1936. Later, he went to Chongqing to engage in theoretical propaganda, historical research and united front work. He returned to Yan 'an in 1942. In 1948, he served as member of the Standing Committee of the Anton Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, President and Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian University. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served successively as deputy director of the Cultural and Educational Committee of the Northeast People's Government, president of Dalian University and Northeast People's University, member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of China, member of the Historical Issues Research Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and professor of the Senior Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He is a representative of the First National People's Congress, a member of the Third National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and a member of the Central Ethnic Affairs Commission. He has been engaged in historical research for a long time, and his works cover economic history, ideological history, national history, general history and historical methods. He is one of the pioneers of the new Marxist history in China and is known as a red professor. He is author of: "Capitalist Economy in the Recent World"(Part 1),"Criticism of Sino-Japanese Issues","Research on Chinese Society in the Early Period of History","Chinese Society in the Yin and Zhou Dynasties","History of Chinese Political Thought","Concise General History of China","A Brief History of China", and "A Brief History of the Chinese Nation" and other 17 academic works and 5 collections of historical commentary. He died in 1980.
