On this day, 39 years ago, on February 28, 1986 (January 20, 1986, the State Council established the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In the early 1980s, in order to promote the reform of my country's science and technology system and change the allocation method of scientific research funds, 89 academicians (members of the faculty) of China Academy of Sciences wrote to the Party Central Committee and the State Council, proposing the establishment of a national natural science fund, which was approved by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Subsequently, under the cordial care of Comrade Xiaoping, the State Council approved the establishment of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (referred to as the "Natural Science Foundation of China") on February 14, 1986. The National Natural Science Foundation of China was established on February 28, 1986. The National Science Foundation has 25 members, who are appointed by scientists and management experts, and has a term system. The fund is open to the whole country, and scientific and technological workers can apply according to regulations.
