Zhang Jinglu is a China publisher and member of the Democratic League. Born on April 7, 1898 in Zhenhai County, Zhejiang. He died in Beijing in September 1969. After graduating from Longshan Evolution National School in 1911, he became an apprentice. In 1915, he served as editor of the supplement of Tianjin Citizen Daily. In 1920, he served as editor and director of the publishing department of Shanghai Taidong Book Bureau. In 1924, he jointly founded Guanghua Bookstore and served as manager. In 1929, he founded Shanghai United Bookstore and served as manager. In 1931, he co-organized Modern Bookstore with Hong Xuefan and served as manager. In 1934, he founded Shanghai Magazine Company and served as general manager. During his tenure, he managed and published many progressive periodicals, including: Flood Water edited by Guo Moruo, Pioneer edited by Jiang Guangci, Southern Land edited by Tian Han, Popular Literature and Art edited by Yu Dafu, Reading Life edited by Ai Siqi, Translation edited by Huang Yuan, Writer edited by Meng Shihuan, Zhongliu edited by Li Liewen, Battlefield edited by Ding Ling, July Moon edited by Hu Feng, etc. These journals had a positive impact at the time. In 1949, he served as general manager of Lianhe Bookstore in Shanghai. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as Director of the Planning Department of the General Administration of Publishing of the Central People's Government, Editor and Auditor of the Ancient Books Publishing House, and Leader of the Modern History Editorial Group of Zhonghua Book Company. His main works include "Journalists and Newsprint in China","Revolutionary History","Twenty Years in the Publishing Industry", the first and second editions of "Modern Publishing Historical Materials in China","Modern Publishing Historical Materials in China" A, B, C and D editions,"Supplement to Historical Materials in China Publishing", etc.
