In 1908, he served as an assistant translator at the Two-level Normal School of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. During the May 4th New Culture Movement, innovative Chinese education was promoted. In 1920, he taught at Hunan No. 1 Normal University in Changsha. Joined the Literary Research Society in 1921. Later, he worked in education in his hometown of Shanghai, and engaged in translation and literary creation. In 1930, he founded the magazine "Middle School Students". In 1937, he founded the magazine "Monthly Bulletin" and served as an editorial member of the Shanghai National Salvation Daily. He died of illness in Shanghai on April 23, 1946.
