On this day, 55 years ago, on January 21, 1970 (December 14, 1969, the American Boeing 747 jet flew for the first time. On January 21, 1970, the U.S. Boeing 747 jetliner joined commercial flights for the first time. The U.S. Boeing 747 jetliner is the first wide-body superjet in the United States. The aircraft was designed and manufactured by Boeing Company of the United States (Boeing Company was formerly known as Pacific Aviation Products Company and changed its name in 1917). It is now engaged in the design and manufacture of commercial and military aircraft, helicopters, spacecraft, missiles, hydrofoils and train carriages. The head office is located in Seattle, Washington. The founder is W-E-Boeing (1881-1956). In 1955, the United States 'first jet passenger aircraft, the Boeing 707, was produced and made its first flight on Pan Am World Airways' Atlantic route in 1958.
