January 30, 1943 British and American air forces attacked Berlin
On this day, 82 years ago, on January 30, 1943 (December 25, 1942 in the lunar calendar), the British and American air forces attacked Berlin. After the air raid on Berlin on January 30, 1943, the Royal Air Force bombed Berlin twice despite the strict Nazi deployment and clear skies. Just as German Marshal Holman Göring was about to deliver a radio speech celebrating the 10th anniversary of Adolf Hitler's rule, the world's fastest new Mosquito bomber suddenly appeared over the German capital. The second attack on Berlin took place in the afternoon, and this time interrupted Propaganda Minister Goebbels, but there were no official reports of casualties. Both bombings were considered successful. The Royal Air Force attack came three days after the U.S. Air Force attacked German soil and destroyed an important Nazi naval base.
