At the beginning of the Cultural Revolution, the Central Cultural Revolution Group "Four Scholars", starting from left: Qi Benyu, Wang Li, Guan Li, Mu Xin On May 28, 1966, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a notice on the establishment of the Central Cultural Revolution Group, and stipulated that it was responsible for the leadership of the "Cultural Revolution". The leader of the Cultural Revolution Group was Chen Boda, the advisor was Kang Sheng, the deputy leader was Jiang Qing, Wang Renzhong, Liu Zhijian, Zhang Chunqiao, and the team members were Xie Yunzhong, Yin Da, Wang Li, Guan Feng, Yao Wenyuan, etc. On August 2, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China notified: Tao Zhu concurrently serves as the advisor of the Central Cultural Revolution Group. On August 30, another notice was issued: During Chen Boda's sick leave, Jiang Qing acted as the head of the Central Cultural Revolution Group. Later, Tao Zhu, Wang Renzhong, Liu Zhijian, Xie Yunzhong, and others were attacked or expelled from the Cultural Revolution Group, and the power basically fell into the hands of the "Gang of Four" gang. The "May 16 Notice" of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China stipulates that the Central Cultural Revolution Group is directly "under the Standing Committee of the Central Political Bureau", and the "Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" stipulates that it is the "power organ of the proletarian cultural revolution." After February 1967, the Central Cultural Revolution Group gradually replaced the Central Secretariat and the Central Political Bureau, and in fact became the agency that issued orders for the "Cultural Revolution." Lin Biao and Jiang Qing used this agency to interfere in the affairs of the party and the state, and committed many crimes that brought disaster to the country and the people.
