On this day, 120 years ago, on April 27, 1905 (March 23, 1905 in the lunar calendar), the first Russian Duma opened. After the revolution of 1905, the tsarist government decided to convene a parliament, the State Duma, to spread constitutional illusions and split the revolutionary ranks. The first State Duma opened on April 27, 1906. The Constitutional Democratic Party occupies an important position in the Duma, and its representative Muromtsev serves as Chairman of the Duma.
