On February 9, 1871, renowned pathologist Howard Taylor Rickles was born.
In 1909, Howard Taylor Rickettsia first discovered Rickettsia while studying Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and it was later named Rickettsia. The following year, he unfortunately died in science due to typhus infection.

Rickettsia is a gram-negative bacterium and is a group of G-prokaryotes that exclusively parasitize eukaryotic cells. It is a type of prokaryote that is intermediate between bacteria and viruses, but close to bacteria.
