400 years ago today, on April 28, 1625 (March 22, 1625, the lunar calendar), Nurhachi moved its capital to Shenyang. Nurhachi established the Later Jin regime in 1616 AD. In 1618, Nurhachi officially sent troops to fight against the Ming Dynasty, and Fushun was captured that year. The following year, the Ming army was defeated in the Battle of Sarda in the southeast of Shunzhou. In 1621, Shenyang and Liaoyang were occupied. On April 28, 1625 (March 22, the tenth year of the Later Jin Dynasty), Nurhachi moved its capital to Shenyang and changed its name to Shengjing. The following year, Nurhachi led more than 100,000 troops across the Liaohe River to attack Mingningyuan (now Xing County, Liaoning Province). Nurhachi was seriously injured and died shortly after. Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty ascended the throne.
