83 years ago today, on March 22, 1942 (February 6, 1942 in the lunar calendar), Yu Ling completed the play "Long Night Walk". In March 1942, playwright Ding Ling completed the play "Long Night Walk". The play is set in the current Anti-Japanese War and describes the lives of three families in a house located in Shikumen, a public concession in Shanghai. The second landlord, Wei Zhicheng, only knows how difficult current affairs are, and his wife, Shen Chunfa, a tenant, made a fortune by hoarding. Shen Chunfa's speculative business grew bigger and bigger, and he even took advantage of the opportunity of Wei Zhicheng and his wife to hoard at a loss to swallow all the property and drive them out of the house. Another tenant, Yu Weixin, was a poor teacher, and his wife, Ren Lando, died of a baby after giving birth and suffered from severe anemia. The poverty weighed on Yu Weixin, and his classmate Chu Guanqiu shifted advertising that the Japanese wanted to lure him into being a traitor. The conspiracy was exposed by another of Yu's classmates, Chen Jian. With Chen's help, Yu opened his eyes. When Chu forced Chen and Yu to submit with a gun, Yu killed Chu with a gun and was arrested. The Pacific War broke out, and the Japanese army stormed the public concession. Shen Chunfa exclaimed that he was facing bankruptcy. Yu was ready to leave Shanghai and go to the front of the Anti-Japanese War.
