On April 1, 1931, Chiang Kai-shek mobilized 200,000 troops, with He Yingqin as commander-in-chief in charge of Nanchang. On the 800-mile front from Ji 'an, Jiangxi, to Jianning, Fujian, the Central Army followed the policy of "fighting steadily and steadily, taking the camp step by step" and divided its troops into four routes to attack the Central Revolutionary Base Area.

Its strategic deployment is: Wang Jinyu's troops of the Fifth Route Army will attack eastward; Sun Lianzhong's troops of the 26th Route Army will attack Dongshao and Xiaobu; Zhu Shaoliang's troops of the Sixth Route Army will attack Guangchang and Huangpi; and Cai Tingkai's troops of the 19th Route Army will attack Longgang and Ningdu. At the beginning of the month, Chiang's army launched a large-scale offensive and successively occupied Shuinan and Futian.
