On March 17, 1948, the People's Liberation Army captured Luoyang
Seventy-seven years ago today, on March 17, 1948 (February 7, 1948 lunar calendar), the People's Liberation Army captured Luoyang. The soldiers who conquered Luoyang adhered to discipline, did not enter civilian houses, and took shelter outside. In March 1948, the Northwest Field Army achieved a major victory in Yichuan. The Kuomintang urgently transferred the corps of Luoyang and Tongguan to Western aid, but the Luoyang defenders were empty. In order to support the Northwest Army in battle and cover the rest of Liu Deng's army, the Central Military Commission ordered the third and eighth columns of the East China Field Army, and the fourth and ninth columns of the Jin-Hebei-Luyu Field Army to launch the Luoyang Campaign. In just a few days, Luoyang was captured, and Luoyang was completely wiped out to defend the enemy. On March 17, all the field troops that captured Luoyang withdrew from Luoyang.
