On February 15, 1937, the internal and external policies of the Kuomintang began to change
On this day, 88 years ago, on February 15, 1937 (January 5, 1937 in the lunar calendar), the Kuomintang's domestic and foreign policies began to change. The Third Plenary Session of the Fifth Central Committee of the Kuomintang opened. From February 15 to 22, 1937, the Third Plenary Session of the Fifth Central Committee of the Kuomintang was held in Nanjing. At the meeting, the Kuomintang anti-Japanese faction and the pro-Japanese faction debated the issue of stopping the civil war and unanimously resisting Japan. After fierce struggle, bills such as the "Proposal to Promote National Salvation", the "Resolution on the Course of the Xi'an Incident", the "Proposal on National Defense Economic Construction" and the "Resolution on Eliminating the Red Disaster" were successively passed, and declarations were issued. During this meeting, although the Kuomintang did not fundamentally abandon its anti-communist stance and did not formulate a clear anti-Japanese policy, under the promotion of the Communist Party of China and the active efforts of progressives within the Kuomintang, it made certain important adjustments in its domestic and foreign policies. In terms of domestic policy, it has basically established the principle of stopping civil war and implementing cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party; in terms of foreign policy, it has publicly stated that "if concessions exceed the limit, they can only be based on the purpose of resisting war." Feng Yuxiang, who had been in seclusion for a long time, went to attend the Third Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee
