Thirty-two years ago today, on March 15, 1993 (February 23, 1993 in the lunar calendar), the Xizang mountaineering team implemented a plan to climb 14 peaks above 8,000 meters above sea level. Tsering Dorjee was approved by the district people's government and party committee in 1992, and with the assistance of the General Administration of Sport of China Mountaineering Association, on March 15, 1993, the Xizang mountaineering team began a plan to climb 14 peaks above 8,000 meters above sea level in the world. There are 14 independent peaks on earth with an altitude of more than 8,000 meters, distributed in the Himalayas and Karakoram Mountains in Asia. Since the Italian Messner began to challenge 14 peaks in 1970, only 13 people in the world have fulfilled their long-cherished wishes, including only 3 Asians (Koreans). It was not until July 12, 2007 that the Chinese Xizang mountaineering team Tsering Dorji, Bianba Tashi, and Luo added three more Chinese names to the list of "14 clubs". This is the only team in the world that has completed this task collectively.
