Twenty-seven years ago today, on April 25, 1998 (March 29, 1998, the Lunar Calendar), Hong Kong's new International Airport was completed. The new Hong Kong International Airport, with a construction cost budget of HK$49.8 billion, was successfully completed. The new Hong Kong International Airport will be officially put into operation on July 6. After the new airport is put into operation, it can transport 35 million passengers and 3 million tons of cargo every year. There are twelve conveyor belts in the baggage claim hall in the airport passenger terminal building, which can handle 19200 pieces of baggage per hour.
