The last Emperor of the Second German Empire and King of Prussia, reigned from 1888 to 1918. On November 9, 1918, Prime Minister Maximilian of Baden suddenly announced the abolition of the two titles William and had to abdicate. On June 5, 1941, William died of illness in Doorn, the Netherlands, and was buried in Huis Doorn, where Hitler held a small military funeral for him. He hoped that the Nazi Party logo would not be displayed at the funeral, but the Nazi Party ignored it.
