On this day, 99 years ago, on April 26, 1926 (March 15, 1926, the lunar calendar), journalist and pioneer of journalism education Shao Piaoping was trapped by Zhang Zuolin. On April 26, 1926, Shao Piaoping, president of the Beijing News, was shot dead at Tianqiao in Beijing by Zhang Zuolin's order. Shao Piaoping's name was Shao Jingqing, also known as Piaoping. He was born on November 1, 1884 in Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province, to a teacher's family. In October 1918, he founded the Beijing News and served as its president. Later, he served as the chief writer of Shenbao and Times, which was extremely influential. In February last year, Northwest Weekly was founded in the Beijing News, publishing a photo of Feng Yuxiang, supporting Feng Yuxiang to stay away from the war between warlords for Beijing and go to the northwest. Regarding Guo Songling's defection, the Beijing News not only "fully praised" but also publicly encouraged Zhang Xueliang to "let his father take over" and transform the political situation in Northeast China. After the "March 18th" tragedy, the Beijing News publicly accused Duan Qirui of being the culprit of the tragedy, saying that a special court should be organized to arrest Duan for a "public trial." On April 15, the National Army was forced to withdraw from Beijing and the Fengjun entered. Shao Piaoping was forced to take refuge in Liuguo Hotel in Dongjiaomin Lane. Feng Jun decided to trap Shao Piaoping and bribed Zhang Hanju, president of Beijing's mainland newspaper, to enter the national restaurant to lure Shao Piaoping. On the 24th, Zhang Jiangshao tricked him out of the Liuguo Hotel and took a bus to report back to the hotel. He was intercepted and arrested by the police. On the morning of the 26th, Zhang Zuolin actually took Shao Piaoping to Tianqiao for execution without trial on the charge of "promoting red corruption."
