On February 11, 2016 (January 4, 2016 lunar calendar), the first cross-border domestic air route of China's civil aviation was born. Jinghua Times Cartography Yang Jianing Jinghua Times News Inner Mongolia Manzhouli Western Suburb Airport released a news on February 11, 2016 that a Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Hainan Airlines took off from Beijing Capital Airport and flew over Mongolian airspace, landing at Manzhouli Airport earlier than before. This route is the first domestic route of China's civil aviation to cross the airspace of another country. According to reports, the new route currently implemented has shortened the air distance from Beijing to Manzhouli by 159 kilometers and reduced the flight time by 12 minutes. On this basis, the follow-up will continue to shorten by 54 kilometers, a total shortening of 213 kilometers, and a reduction of flight time by 18 minutes. Manzhouli is adjacent to Mongolia to the west and Russia to the north. Due to its special geographical location, civil aviation flights from Beijing, Hohhot and other places to Manzhouli in the past had to detour to avoid foreign airspace. In 2015, in order to shorten the route distance between Manzhouli and Beijing and Hohhot, the main sources of tourists, Manzhouli Airport boldly proposed the optimization concept of route passing through Mongolia, intercept and straighten, and was later approved by the North China Air Traffic Control Bureau of Civil Aviation of China and other units on December 30, 2015. The route optimization between Manzhouli and Beijing and Hohhot is the first domestic route in the history of Chinese civil aviation that has been proposed and successfully coordinated by airports to fly over the airspace of other countries. This route will open a new operation mode. In the future, domestic air routes between China's Xinjiang, Northwest and Northeast regions will be able to cross Mongolia's airspace with reference to this route optimization plan.
