Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, is a former foreign minister and politician of South Korea. On October 9, 2006, the United Nations Security Council voted for Ban Ki-moon to succeed Annan as the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Ban Ki-moon is also the second UN Secretary-General from Asia.
