On March 23, 2001 (February 29, 2001 in the lunar calendar), the "Peace" successfully crashed. At 9:0:12 on March 23, 2001, Moscow time (14:0:12 Beijing time), the Russian Ground Control Center announced that all fragments of the Mir had successfully and safely fallen into the scheduled South Pacific waters. At this point, the work of crashing the Mir came to a successful conclusion. At 8:44:04 in Moscow time (13:44:04 in Beijing time), the Mir entered the dense atmosphere. In the process of violent friction with the atmosphere,"Peace" ignited a raging fire. At 8:59:49 in Moscow time (13:59:49 in Beijing time), the first fragments of the Mir safely fell into the South Pacific, which is located between New Zealand and South America. 23 seconds later, more than 1500 pieces of the Mir fell into the designated sea area. The crash of the Mir proceeded as scheduled. It took less than 6 hours from the time the Russian ground control center issued the first braking signal to the Mir to the time the Mir crashed. The "Mir" space station is the ninth space station in human history. It is also by far the largest space station, the most advanced application technology, and the longest space flight time. During its 15 years of space flight, Mir has accepted a total of 28 long-term basic expedition teams and 30 international expedition teams, with a total of 108 astronauts from 12 countries and the European Space Agency. These astronauts completed more than 20 scientific research projects and 22,000 scientific experiments.
