Seventy-two years ago today, on January 26th, 1953 (December 12th, 1952 in the lunar calendar), Dr. Salk of the United States made a new vaccine against polio. Polio is expected to become the first disease to be completely eradicated by humans. On January 26, 1953, Dr. Salk of the United States announced the preparation of a new vaccine for polio immunization. In the following year, nearly one million children in the world tried polio vaccine, and since then, people have basic and effective drugs to prevent and treat this paralytic disease.
