Jia Xiang (1869 - 1958) was one of the founders and leaders of the French Communist Party and an activist of the international communist movement. Born on September 20, 1869, and died on February 12, 1958 in Paris. Joined the French Workers 'Party in 1891. From 1906 to 1912, he served as a representative of the Propaganda Headquarters of the United Socialist Party. He served as editor-in-chief of "Ren Tao" since 1912 and president of the newspaper since 1918. In 1912, he was elected to the city of Paris, to the province of Seine, and to the French Parliament in 1914. In February 1920, Jia Xiang presided over the Strasbourg Congress of the Unified Socialist Party and passed a resolution to withdraw from the Second International. In late December of the same year, a resolution to join the Communist International was presided over at the Congress of the Socialist Party Tours. The establishment of the Communist Party of France was announced. It was initially called the "Socialist Party (French Branch of the Communist International)" and was renamed in October 1921. In 1923 and 1927, he was arrested and imprisoned twice for condemning the French government's foreign aggression. He participated in the creation of the French Popular Front in early 1935 and was elected to the Senate in October. After winning the popular front election in May 1936, he served as chairman of the parliamentary group of the French Communist Party. He was one of the leaders of the anti-fascist resistance movement during World War II. Arrested in autumn 1941. After the war, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly in 1945 and the National Assembly in 1946, opposing France's aggressive wars against Indochina and Algeria.
