68 years ago today, on April 12, 1957 (March 13, 1957 in the lunar calendar), the China Taoist Association was established. On April 12, 1957, the China Taoist Association was established in Beijing at the initiative of various Taoist sects in China and Taoist scholars Yue Chongdai and Chen Yingning. Its purposes and tasks are: to unite Taoists across the country to inherit and carry forward the fine traditions of Taoism; under the leadership of the People's Government, actively participate in the socialist modernization of the motherland; and to assist the government in implementing the policy of freedom of religious belief; Promote and carry out Taoist research; oppose hegemonism and safeguard world peace. The meeting adopted a letter of tribute to Chairman Mao, the "Constitution of China Taoist Association" and resolutions, and elected the first council. After the establishment of the China Taoist Association, it gave full play to its role as a patriotic religious organization and made due achievements in studying Taoist historical materials and teachings, and maintaining and repairing Taoist palaces, temples and cultural relics.
