April 23, 1877 The birth of China politician Liao Zhongkai
148 years ago today, April 23, 1877 (March 10, 1877, the lunar calendar) was the birthday of China politician Liao Zhongkai. Liao Zhongkai's original name was Enxu. He was born in Guishan (now Huiyang), Guangdong Province. He was born on April 23, 1877 in San Francisco, USA. He was a great patriot, a leftist leader of the Kuomintang of China, and a pioneer of my country's democratic revolution. Liao Zhongkai pursued progress throughout his life. For the independence of the country and the liberation of the nation, he constantly explored ways and methods to solve China's revolutionary problems. As early as 1903, Liao Zhongkai met Sun Yat-sen while studying in Japan. From then on, he followed Sun Yat-sen unswervingly and devoted himself to the cause of the liberation of the Chinese nation. Later, he participated in the Revolution of 1911, the Second Revolution, the anti-Yuan struggle to protect the country, as well as two "Law Protection" movements. The painful failure gave him a profound lesson. He, Sun Yat-sen and others realized from the cruel fact that "disaster comes from the elbow, and war starts in the heart" that if we want to find a way out for revolution, we must unite the forces of real revolution. At that time, the Kuomintang was a group with loose organization and lax discipline. It lacked a clear program and was paralyzed. Many party members are corrupt and degenerate and have low fighting spirit. In 1923, Liao Zhongkai was entrusted by Sun Yat-sen to devote himself to the reorganization of the Kuomintang and the promotion of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in order to open up a new path of struggle. On January 20, 1924, the historic First National Congress of the Kuomintang of China was grandly held in Guangzhou. This was a grand event for cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Among the 165 representatives attending the conference, 23 were Communist Party members such as Li Dazhao and Mao Zedong. At this conference, Liao Zhongkai worked closely with the Communists to defeat the rampant attack of the Kuomintang rightists and contribute to the realization of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. When someone slandered that joining the Kuomintang in their personal capacity was a "conspiracy", Liao Zhongkai severely refuted it, pointing out: "Just ask the people who joined whether they are sincere about coming to the revolution. In addition, there is no need to ask more. Their joining this time is a new life for our party." Throughout the conference, Liao Zhongkai eliminated all kinds of interference and tried his best to promote the implementation of Sun Yat-sen's three major policies. Finally, the conference adopted the "Declaration of the First National Congress of the Kuomintang of China" based on the three major policies of "uniting with Russia, uniting with the Communist Party, and supporting farmers and workers" and centered on opposing imperialism and feudal warlords and achieving extensive democracy. From then on, the Kuomintang was reorganized into a revolutionary alliance of workers, peasants, petty bourgeoisie and national bourgeoisie. The successful convening of this conference marked the establishment of the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and the formation of the revolutionary united front of China. After Sun Yat-sen's death, Liao Zhongkai faithfully implemented Sun's will, persisted in implementing the three major revolutionary policies, foiled the conspiracy of imperialism and reactionaries, continued to cooperate closely with the Communist Party of China, and played a mainstay role in the Kuomintang. In August 1925, just as the Great Revolution was at its peak, the rightists of the Kuomintang blatantly attacked him. Mr. Liao Zhongkai was brutally killed, shedding the last drop of blood for the revolution.
