Verdi premiered his famous opera "The Choir Poet" at the Apollo Opera House in Rome

Giuseppe Verdi

Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) Italian composer. Born in Busetto, province of Parma. He studied music with Ravinia in 1832. In 1842, he composed his second opera "King Nabuco", which was a great success and became the first-class composer in Italy. At that time, Italy was in the midst of a revolutionary wave from Austrian rule. He inspired the people to struggle with his operas "The Lombards" (1848), "Ernani" (18744), "Arzila" (1846), "The Battle of Leniano" (1849) and revolutionary songs, so he was called "the musical master of the Italian revolution". The 1950s was the peak period of his creation, and he wrote seven operas such as "Jester" (1851), "Troubadour" (1853), "Camellia" (1853), and "Masquerade" (1859), establishing his status as an opera master. In 1871-1872, at the request of the governor of Egypt, he composed "Aida" for the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal. In his later years, he composed "Othello" (1887) and "Falstaff" (1893) based on Shakespeare's plays. He died in Milan in 1901. During his lifetime, he composed twenty-six operas, making him one of the most popular opera composers in the world.
