On this day 125 years ago, on March 6, 1900 (February 6, 1900 in the lunar calendar), German inventor Gottlieb Daimler died. Gottlieb Daimler (1834-1900), German engineer and inventor, one of the pioneers of the modern automobile industry. Born on March 17, 1834, in Schöndorf-on-Rems, Württemberg, Germany, to a family of artisanal workers, his father was a bakery owner. In 1852, he studied at the Stuttgart Institute of Engineering. As a teenager, Daimler developed a strong interest in gas engines and began to learn to develop the Otto gas engine. In 1872, Daimler designed a four-stroke engine. In 1883, he worked with his friend, the famous inventor Wilhelm Maybach, to successfully develop a gasoline engine, which was installed on a wooden two-wheeler in 1885, thus inventing the motorcycle. In 1886, Daimler installed this engine on the carriage he bought for his wife's 43rd birthday, creating the first Daimler car. In 1897, Daimler's company produced the "Phoenix" brand passenger car, especially in 1903, with the company's main investor Emil. The passenger car named "Mercedes" after Jelinek's daughter's Christian name was put into production. Jelinek was the main investor of the company at the time, the Austrian consul in Nice, France, and an enthusiastic supporter of Daimler Automobiles. Its front engine has 35 horsepower, headlights, windshields, two-door 5-seat open-top car shape, which is more similar to the characteristics of modern cars. It also has a lighter and more powerful engine than the original, a longer wheelbase, and a lower center of gravity, which greatly enhanced Daimler's commercial position. On June 29, 1926, Daimler and Mercedes-Benz merged to form the Daimler-Benz company (Daimler-Benz), which played a pivotal role in the history of automobiles. From then on, all the cars they produced were named "Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-Benz". On March 6, 1900, Gottlieb Daimler died in Bad Canstadt, Stuttgart, Germany. On March 7, 1834, Gottlieb Daimler, one of the world's automobile men, was born in Germany. His father was a baker. In 1861, Daimler went to France and England to work and study. In 1862, he returned to Germany and married. Later, he worked as an engineer at the Doitz Gas Engine Company. In 1882, he and his friend Maybach jointly built the engine at Maybach's home, and after improving the Otto four-stroke engine, they launched their first Daimler recumbent engine in 1883. In 1884, a better vertical engine was introduced (named Standing Bell, air-cooled, 1/4 horsepower, maximum speed 600 rpm), and was patented in Germany on April 3, 1885. On August 29, 1885, a two-wheeler named "Riding Bicycle" was patented in Germany, which was the first motorcycle in the world. In 1886, to commemorate his wife's 43rd birthday, Daimler ordered a carriage and fitted it with his vertical engine, thus giving birth to Daimler's first car. In 1890, Daimler established its own car company. Gottlieb Daimler died in 1900. News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/17zn.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.28-07:06] 访问:85
