On this day 69 years ago, on January 15, 1956 (December 3, 1955 in the lunar calendar), all walks of life in Beijing celebrated the victory of socialist transformation. On January 15, 1956, more than 200,000 people from all walks of life in the capital held a party to celebrate the victory of socialist transformation in Tiananmen Square. Party and state leaders such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, and Zhou Enlai attended the celebration. From this day, Beijing has basically completed the transformation of agriculture, handicrafts, and capitalist industry and commerce, moving from the transitional period to a new stage of socialism. The task of socialist transformation was set out in the general line of the transition period in 1953, which stipulated that for a considerable period of time thereafter, the main task of the state was to realize industrialization and the socialist transformation of individual handicrafts and capitalist industry and commerce, referred to as "one transformation and three transformations".
