Thirty-two years ago today, on April 24, 1993 (March 3, 1993 in the lunar calendar), Tambo, the national president of the African National Congress of South Africa, passed away. On April 24, 1993, Oliver Tambo, the leader of the black liberation movement in South Africa and the national president of the African National Congress of South Africa, passed away in Johannesburg. Tambo was born on October 27, 1917 in the Pandora region of South Africa. He joined the ANC in 1944 and co-founded the ANC "Youth League" with Mandela and others in the same year. In 1955, Tambo was elected general secretary of the ANC, and in 1967 he served as the acting president of the ANC. Since April 1970, Tambo has led the people in their unyielding struggle as the main leader of the ANC during his exile career of about 30 years. At the 48th National Congress of the ANC in July 1991, Mandela, who had just been released from prison, was elected president of the ANC, and Tambo, a long-ailing friend of the Chinese people who visited China three times in 1963, 1975 and 1983, was elected national president.
