Seventy-four years ago today, on June 7, 1951 (May 3, 1951 lunar calendar), the Dunhuang Institute of Cultural Relics was honored. On June 7, 1951, the staff of the Dunhuang Institute of Cultural Relics were honored, a move that shows the government's encouragement to protect and organize cultural heritage. On the 7th, the Cultural Education Committee of the Government Council held a commendation meeting at the Chinese Academy of Sciences to recognize the Dunhuang researchers who have been engaged in the painting and research of the murals in the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang under difficult conditions for eight years. At the same time, the Government Council approved the request of the Ministry of Culture to increase the funds and equipment of the Dunhuang Institute of Cultural Heritage, expand the establishment of the Institute, and ordered the cultural relics department of the Ministry of Culture to work with the Institute to formulate a plan for the protection of the Mogao Grottoes.
