On May 7, 1984, the People's Daily announced the "Trial Regulations of the People's Republic of China Resident Identity Cards" issued by the State Council. On September 6, 1985, the 12th Session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress formally adopted and promulgated the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards." This is a major reform of my country's current household registration system and an important measure to maintain social security. The purpose of implementing the "Resident Identity Card" is to prove resident identity, facilitate citizens 'social activities, and protect citizens' legitimate rights and interests. Resident ID cards are scheduled to be issued before October 1989 and used nationwide.
