In 1957, Shu Xiuwen was transferred to the People's Arts and created distinctive images such as Hu Niu in "Camel Xiangzi", Zhu Lianxiu in "Guan Hanqing", and Kriya in "Aesop". He also carefully created many small roles such as the female student in "Returning on a Snowy Night" and the typist in "The Man with a Gun". During her lifetime, she was a national first-class actor and deputy director of the Beijing People's Art and Art Committee; she was successively elected as a member of the 1st National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a representative of the 2nd and 3rd National People's Congress, a member of the Executive Committee of the 3rd All-China Women's Federation, a member of the All-China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and executive director of the China Theater Association and the China Film Association. During the turbulent years of the "Cultural Revolution", Shu Xiuwen, who had been an artist for more than 30 years, left the stage and screen prematurely on March 17, 1969.
