On this day, 87 years ago, on January 11, 1938 (December 10, 1937 in the lunar calendar), Xinhua Daily was founded. On January 11, 1938, Xinhua Daily, the organ of the Yangtze River Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, was founded in Hankou. Pan Zinian was appointed president, Hua Gang was appointed editor-in-chief, Zhang Hanfu was appointed deputy editor-in-chief, and Xiong Jinding was appointed general manager. On October 25, 1938, after the fall of Wuhan, the newspaper moved to Chongqing to continue publishing. It was seized by the Kuomintang on February 18, 1947 and existed for more than 9 years. On January 1, 1939, the North China edition of Xinhua Daily was founded in Qin County, Shanxi Province. On December 9, 1945, Xinhua Daily was founded in Huaiyin, Jiangsu Province. It is the official newspaper of the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. On January 1, 1948, the Central China edition of Xinhua Daily was published and was the official newspaper of the Central China Working Committee of the CPC Central Committee. On December 10, 1949, Xinhua Daily was published in Chongqing and was the official newspaper of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. On April 30, 1949, Xinhua Daily was founded in Nanjing as the official newspaper of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. On November 1, 1952, it was changed to the official newspaper of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and it continues to this day.
