On this day, 28 years ago, on March 18, 1997 (February 10, 1997 in the lunar calendar), the Nanning-Kunming Railway was completed and opened to traffic. Schematic Map of Nanning-Kunming Railway On March 18, 1997, a celebration meeting for the completion of the entire Nanning-Kunming Railway was grandly held in Baise, Guangxi. The Nanning-Kunming Railway starts from Nanning in the east, ends in Kunming in the west, and connects Hongguo in the north. It has a total length of 898.7 kilometers. It is a national first-class trunk line electrified railway with an annual transmission capacity of 10 million tons in the near term and 20 to 30 million tons in the long term. The Nanning-Kunming Railway project includes: a main line project with a building length of 863.04 kilometers; The reconstruction and expansion project and the main line electrification project that attract Nanning and Kunming hubs. The Nanning-Kunming Railway is another long and long trunk line built in difficult mountainous areas in my country after the Chengdu-Kunming Railway. After the railway is completed, it will be connected to the Xiang-Guangxi, Lizhan and Nanfang railways in the east, and will be connected to the Chengdu-Kunming and Gui-Kunming railways in the west. It is the most convenient channel connecting the southwest and southeast coasts of my country. Together with Fangcheng, Qinzhou and Beihai Ports in Guangxi, it forms a channel to go to the sea in the southwest, which is of great significance to accelerating regional economic development. The Nanning-Kunming Railway is a large railway trunk line built in the mountainous areas with the most complex geological conditions in my country. It is densely covered with serious geological diseases such as high gas coal seams, high ground stress, huge water gushing, large landslides, karst caves, swelling rocks, soft soil, and earthquake fault zones. The main line passes through more than 90% of the area and is called the geological "maze". The construction environment here is the most dangerous, and in order to overcome various geological diseases, high-tech applications are also the most intensive. The Nanning-Kunming Railway is the highest-cost railway in my country. The railway passes through the Kunyang Phosphate Mine, which has the most high-quality phosphate mines in my country. The 9392-meter-long Mihualing Tunnel on the Nanning-Kunming Railway is the longest single-track railway tunnel in my country. The Jiazhuqing Tunnel near Hongguo Town, Guizhou Province is known as the "most dangerous hole in the world." This tunnel is the first tunnel in my country to directly penetrate high-gas coal seam. Its daily water inflow reaches more than 80,000 cubic meters, making it the tunnel with the largest water inflow in the country, and the world's first and third highland stress phenomenon occurred in China. The Qingshuihe Bridge passed by the Jiazhuqing Tunnel and the Nanning-Kunming Railway is the highest railway bridge in the world. The pier is the first 100-meter-high pier in China, with a main span of 128 meters, the largest span among trunk railways in the country. The Badu Nanpan River Bridge at the junction of Guizhou and Zhujiang is known as the "No. 1 Bridge in China". It was the first to adopt new V-shaped support technology in domestic railway bridges.
