52 years ago today, on April 8, 1973 (March 6, 1973 in the lunar calendar), India took over the administrative power of Sikkim. In April 1973, the Indian government sent troops into Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, on the pretext of "riots" in Sikkim. Then on April 8, he forcibly took over all powers of the Sikkim government and imposed military occupation. On April 10, 1975, the Sikkim Parliament, controlled by India, passed a resolution to depose former King Namgar and turn Sikkim into a state in India. The Indian Parliament also passed a resolution to turn Sikkim into a state in India, completing the steps of annexing Sikkim.
