On March 4, 1933, the Japanese army captured the Gubeikou
On this day, 92 years ago, on March 4, 1933 (February 9, 1933 in the lunar calendar), the Japanese army captured Gubeikou. The Japanese army was climbing the mountain and attacking Gubeikou. On March 4, 1933, after the Japanese army occupied Chengde, it used the main force of the 8th Division to pursue Gubeikou. The 107th Division under Wang Yizhe of the Northeast Army retreated to the Pass on March 9 after fighting fiercely with the pursuing Japanese army for two days and nights in the Laohu Mountain and Huangtuliang areas outside the Gubei Pass. Wang Yizhe urgently dispatched the 112th Division to deploy defense along the north of the Great Wall, preparing to jointly defend Gubeikou with the 17th Army of the Central Army. At this time, the Japanese army chasing the 107th Division had arrived near the Great Wall. Guan Linzheng, the 25th Division of the 17th Army, arrived at Gubeikou at 4:00 on March 10. At 15:00 on the 10th, a unit of the Japanese Eighth Division, under the cover of artillery fire, made a wide-frontal exploratory attack and retreated to the original line a few hours later. At dawn on the 11th, the main force of the Japanese Eighth Division, under the cover of artillery fire, began to attack the defenders. The 112th Division defending the front of Gubei Pass gave up its first-line positions without trying its best to resist. The Japanese army quickly occupied the Gubei Pass and took advantage of the victory to surround and attack the Longeryu position on the right wing of the 25th Division. The 73rd Brigade stationed in the area suffered serious casualties and communication was interrupted. Commander Guan Linzheng commanded the main support of the 75th Brigade and repelled the enemy. At about 5 o'clock in the morning on the 12th, the Japanese army, supported by aircraft and artillery, launched another attack. The main force pointed at the Longeryu position and extended most of its troops to the right wing to surround it. The situation became more intense. At 15:00, most of the garrison troops were exhausted and were forced to retreat. On the night of the 12th, the withdrawn 25th Division troops were reorganized and occupied positions in and around Nantimen. On the 13th, the 16th Military Order, the 25th Division withdrew to Miyun for repair, and its defense was taken over by the 2nd Division. The Japanese army occupied Gubeikou. In this battle, China troops suffered more than 4000 casualties and more than 2000 Japanese troops were killed. Xu Tingyao (former), commander of the 17th Army of China, commanded at the front line of Gubeikou, China soldiers in the trenches transporting wounded Japanese soldiers in Gubeikou
