On this day, 92 years ago, on February 20, 1933 (January 26, 1933 in the lunar calendar), Japanese writer Takiji Kobayashi was martyred. Taki Kobayashi is like Taki Kobayashi was born on October 13, 1903. His ancestors were landlords in the village. In his father's generation, a relatively wealthy family was irreparably ruined and turned into tenants. Takiji Kobayashi spent his childhood in Otaru. The suffering of the people has left a lasting mark on the soul of this future writer. Not only did he truly reproduce the scene of his childhood in works such as "Ryusuke and the Beggar" and "The Killer Dog", but his life during this period also had a profound impact on all his creations. In 1929, Takiji Kobayashi completed the masterpiece "Crab Boat", which violently criticized the nature of the Mikado state. The novel was first published in "Red Flag" and the Japanese government immediately banned its sale. But the work is still selling at an alarming rate, and the individual editions are sold out. China first translated and published this masterpiece in 1930, and Takiji Kobayashi wrote a preface specifically for China readers. In pre-war Japan, the Emperor was the supreme god, and no one could express doubts or disrespect towards him. Takiji Kobayashi was the first to point out in "Crab Worker Boat" that the emperor was a demon king who swallowed the blood of people. Therefore, Tokyo police authorities arrested him and imprisoned him on charges of disrespecting the emperor. Takiji Kobayashi accumulated rich materials during the 1927 Ishino tenant farmers 'struggle and created the novella "Lord in a Foreign Country". This novel is a Marxist artistic summary of Japan's rural problems in the 1920s. From the late 1920s to the early 1930s, the Japanese proletarian literary movement had formed a powerful force in the literary world through creative activities represented by Takiji Kobayashi and Tokunaga, as well as the theoretical activities of outstanding critics such as Korito Sawara and Shigeji Nakano. This caused panic among the reactionary Japanese government, which intensified its suppression of revolutionary literature. Tokyo police authorities once again put Takiji Kobayashi in prison, and was released on bail on January 22, 1931. Takiji Kobayashi was imprisoned for seven months. After being released from prison, Takiji Kobayashi wrote the novella "The Organizer","The Character of a New Woman"(later renamed "Woman") and the long "People in the Transformation Period". Takiji Kobayashi joined the Communist Party of Japan in October 1931 and was responsible for the party's work in the Writers 'League. After the crackdown began, he successively published articles analyzing the situation at the time and pointing out the direction for the continued development of the cultural movement. At the same time, he set about restoring and rectifying the organization and actively launched the struggle against aggression against China and white terror. During this period, he completed two novelettes,"Underground Party Members" and "People of the Region". Among them,"Underground Party Members" is an immortal masterpiece written by Takiji Kobayashi against the background of domestic opposition to the war of aggression against China and based on his own underground life experience. On February 20, 1933, Takiji Kobayashi was arrested and imprisoned in Tokyo. That night, he died in prison after being beaten. He was only 29 years old. When Lu Xun learned of Takiji Kobayashi's death, he sent a sad tribute and launched a fundraising campaign for his family. The China Left Writers 'League also issued a protest. Lu Xun said in his tribute: "The people of China and Japan are as close as brothers. The bourgeoisie deceives the people, creates a gap between us with blood, and continues to create it. But the proletariat and its vanguard are using their own blood to close this gap. The death of Comrade Takiji Kobayashi is a proof. We know all this and we will not forget it.
