Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Capital International Airport Terminal 1 is put into use
Capital International Airport Terminal 1 is designed according to the daily take-off and landing of 60 aircraft and the peak hour passenger throughput of 1,500 passengers. After the expansion is completed, the flight area facilities of the Capital Airport have reached the 4E standard stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Organization. With the continuous increase of traffic counting, the traffic counting of Building 1 is becoming increasingly saturated. The replanned building area is 336,000 square meters. Terminal 2 equipped with advanced technical equipment started construction in October 1995 and was officially put into use on November 1, 1999. Terminal 2 can handle more than 26.50 million passengers per year, and the peak hour passenger throughput can reach 9,210. At the same time that Terminal 2 was put into use, Terminal 1 began to be decommissioned for decoration. Beijing Capital International Airport (ICAO Airport Code: ZBAA;IATA Airport Code: PEK), referred to as "Capital Airport", is located in Shunyi District, Beijing City China (currently under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District). It is the busiest international airport in China. Beijing Capital International Airport is China's air gateway and an important window for foreign exchanges. Beijing Capital International Airport was built in 1958. Over the past 50 years of operation, Beijing Capital International Airport's annual passenger throughput has increased from 1.03 million in 1978 to 86.1283 million in 2014, ranking first in Asia and second in the world. Beijing Capital International Airport is located in the northeast of Beijing. The geographical location is in Shunyi District, but it is under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District and 25.35 kilometers away from Tiananmen Square. When selecting the site for airport construction, the address of Capital International Airport was chosen in Shunyi, which was then part of Hebei Province. Therefore, the land occupied by the airport has become Beijing's enclave in Hebei Province, and the airport belongs to the jurisdiction of Beijing's Chaoyang District. Later, as Shunyi was transferred from Hebei to Beijing jurisdiction, the airport still belonged to Chaoyang District, so it became an enclave of Chaoyang District in Shunyi District. The newly built Terminal T3 in 2004 was built on the land of Shunyi District. Therefore, Terminals T1 and T2 of Capital International Airport are enclaves outside Chaoyang District, and Terminal T3 is land of Shunyi District. Although the jurisdiction of the airport belongs to Chaoyang District, most of the airport staff are from Shunyi District, and senior airport staff are also deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shunyi District.
