Recently, China scientists led by Liu Jiang's team from the Beijing Institute of Genomics, China Academy of Sciences, interpreted the mystery of the gene "programming language" for the first time and revealed important new mechanisms of human evolution. Relevant research was published in the international top journal Cell on March 9, 2018. With the development of life sciences, scientists have discovered that human development requires the genes in the body to be expressed in an orderly manner at a specific time and in a specific place according to a set program. This process is called gene expression programming. Liu Jiang said that for about two days after human fertilization, the behavior of cells is very special, during which period there is almost no gene expression in the embryo. How to get human genes to start expressing, which genes will be expressed first and which genes will be expressed later, has always been a research difficulty. In this regard, Liu Jiang's team and others overcame the problem of lack of research materials and studied the activation mechanism of human embryo genomes for the first time in the world: "The important reason for the research difficulty is that it is difficult to get enough human embryos. In order to overcome this problem, we established a research method for trace cells, thus revealing the activation mechanism of human embryo genomes for the first time internationally. We identified key molecules that start expression in the human genome, and we also found that cells follow specific programs to regulate gene expression. The first gene (old gene) is expressed first, while the last gene is often expressed later. Liu Jiang of the Beijing Institute of Genomics, China Academy of Sciences, also explained that humans have been in the process of evolution, and their research has revealed an important new mechanism of human evolution: "There is a type of DNA fragments called transposons in the human genome sequence. They often jump from one region to another, and this jump will cause DNA mutations. Only mutations that occur in embryos are more likely to be passed on to future generations, causing human evolution. According to reports, this research result of Liu Jiang's team opens the door to understanding the expression and regulation of genes in human embryonic development, making China an international leading position in the field of human development research. This research result will provide a theoretical basis for human eugenics.
