On this day 147 years ago, on February 14, 1878 (January 13, 1878 lunar calendar), Hiroyuki Hirota, a war criminal against China and a Japanese diplomat, was born. Hiroyuki Hirota (1878-1948) was the 32nd Prime Minister of Japan. He was born on February 14, 1878, in Forge Town, Naka Prefecture, Tsukimae Fukuoka. After his birth, he was named Shotaro. In the 32nd year of Meiji, Shotaro, who was studying at the First High School, took the initiative to change his name to Hung Yi, citing the section "A scholar must not be Hung Yi" in his favorite "The Analects of Confucius". He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Imperial University in Tokyo in 1905. In 1906, he passed the examination for diplomats and consular officers in the first place. In 1907, he was resident in the Qing Dynasty. In 1929, he attended In 1933, he served as Foreign Minister of Minoru Saito Cabinet, in 1934, as Foreign Minister of Okada Cabinet, in 1936, as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, resigned in February 1937, and in June, he served as Foreign Minister of the First Konoboku Cabinet. In 1940, he served as a senator to the Mitsui Cabinet of Minai. In 1946, he was tried by the Far East Military Court as a war criminal against China. He was the only civilian among the seven people sentenced to capital punishment. He was hanged on December 23, 1948, at the age of 71.
