Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Class A war criminal Mijiro Umezu was born
Mijiro Umezu Umezu Yoshijiro, a native of Oita Prefecture, Japan, was Japan's longest-serving commander and last chief of staff of the Kwantung Army during World War II. He was an important figure in the Japanese militarist war of aggression against China and its foreign expansionist and aggressive policy. He was one of the chief criminals of the war of aggression against China and one of the 28 fascist war criminals tried in Tokyo. His highest military rank was a general. He Yingqin was forced to sign the notorious "Ho Mei Agreement". In 1937, when Japan launched a full-scale war of aggression against China, he was then the provincial vice-minister of the army. During his five years as commander of the Kwantung Army, he massaged and massacred the people of northeastern China. At the same time, he planned to go to war against the Soviet Union and signed an order to expand the 731 Force. Later, due to the sharp decline in the situation in Japan, he returned to China and was transferred to the post of Chief of Staff until the Japanese government was forced to surrender. In November 1948, Meijin was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of Class-A war criminal. On January 8, 1949, Mijiro Umezu died of cancer in Tokyo's Chaoya Prison. In the Japanese military, he is regarded as a flexible and capable general. From his experience, it can be seen that Mijiro Umezu has always been successful and has been successful. Some historians commented on him: "He is not tall, has a kind attitude on the surface, has no arrogance, and his language also gives people a sense of humility and elegance." But this person is actually different from what he appears to be. He is really a person with a human face and a beast's heart. Without wearing military uniforms, most people would not have thought that he was the general commander who commanded the millions of Japanese invaders.』 In January 1946, in accordance with the provisions of the Potsdam Proclamation on punishing war criminals, the Supreme Command of the Allied Forces in Japan issued a special announcement announcing the establishment of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in Tokyo to try and punish the major Japanese war criminals who committed crimes against peace, violations of the laws of war, and crimes against humanity. Since September 11, 1945, the Supreme Command of the Allied Forces has successively arrested Tojo Hideki and others in the name of suspected major war criminals. Although Umejin has been in an important position in the army for a long time and has committed many crimes, the United States has not included Umejin in the list of war criminals. Later, the Soviet Union arrested Umejin and the ambassador to the Soviet Union Shigemitsu on the grounds that he served as the commander of the Kwantung Army for five years and plotted to prepare for war against the Soviet Union, and was imprisoned in Sugamo Prison. The International Military Tribunal for the Far East held a trial in the old Japanese Army Province on the morning of May 3, 1946. During the trial, Umezin maintained his stubborn position, refused to plead guilty, and said that he was a "loyal soldier" and must be "faithful to his beliefs". On the grounds of this, he shirked all guilt. He also claimed that the world would not make a proper evaluation of him, and only God would make a fair judgment on him. The International Military Tribunal for the Far East sentenced Umezin to life imprisonment on November 20, 1948 for war crimes (18 years of consistent conspiracy to control East Asia and the Pacific, waging a war of aggression against China, waging a war of aggression against the United States, waging a war of aggression against Britain, waging a war of aggression against the Netherlands, waging a war of aggression against the Soviet Union,). By this time, he was already suffering from rectal cancer, which was probably the main reason why six judges opposed his execution (out of a total of 11 judges in the court). Umezu Mijiro was admitted to Tongai Hospital in December 1948. On January 8, 1949, Umezu Mijiro died of cancer in Tokyo Sugamo Prison. Although Umejin was a top student who graduated from the Army Non-commissioned Officer School and held an important position in the army for a long time, he left very little written materials. He never wrote diaries and notes, and did not like to talk. Nicknamed "The Stone Man" and always refused to wave an inscription for others. He only wrote a plaque for his alma mater, Kumamoto Army Regional Junior School, all his life. The suicide note at the time of death was only five words "Gloomy Window No Calendar Days".
