Fifty years ago today, on February 4, 1975 (December 24, 1974 in the lunar calendar), the Liujiaxia Hydropower Station was built. On February 4, 1975, Liujiaxia Hydropower Station was built in Yongjing County, Gansu Province. The magnificent flood barrier dam is 147 meters high, holding the dangerous peaks on both sides of the gorge tightly together. It raises the upstream water level, causing a 100-meter drop, causing the Yellow River water to lose its hydro-generator to generate powerful power. The spillway and spillway of the dam can discharge more than 7,400 cubic meters of water per second, which can ensure safety even if there is a catastrophic flood upstream. There are five large-scale domestic hydropower generator units arranged in the center of Liujiaxia Hydropower Station, which are responsible for supplying electricity to Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and other provinces. The power station building is about 25 meters wide, 180 meters long and 20 stories high, all of which were designed and constructed by our country. Liujiaxia Hydropower Station can store 5.7 billion cubic meters of water and generate 5.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. It is also a large-scale water conservancy hub with comprehensive utilization values such as flood control, irrigation, ice control and breeding.
