On March 17, 2006 (February 18, 2006 in the lunar calendar), former chairman of Beijing Jianhao Group and billionaire Yuan Baojing was sentenced to death. On the morning of March 17, 2006, the Intermediate People's Court of Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province held a public verdict meeting and announced the criminal ruling and order of the Higher People's Court of Liaoning Province to sentence the defendants Yuan Baojing, Yuan Baoqi, and Yuan Baosen to death for intentional homicide, and to deprive them of political rights for life; for intentional homicide, the defendant Yuan Baofu was sentenced to death, with a two-year suspension of execution and deprivation of political rights for life. Yuan Baojing is from Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. He graduated from China University of Political Science and Law in 1989. In 1992, he registered Beijing Jianhao Industrial Development Company in Huairou with a starting capital of 200,000 yuan. Half a year later, Yuan made a profit of more than 2 million yuan. Later, he turned to stocks and bonds. In 1994, he left the stock market and swallowed more than 60 companies in one go. He became a well-known "business wizard". By 1996, his assets reached more than 3 billion yuan.
